This Dog's Best Friend
My name is Ron Hanson and I am a photographer, editor, producer, and director. There isn't a hat I haven't worn in production over the last 20 plus years. The last 11 years I have taught at risk youth at the Simon Youth Academy in the Indianapolis Public Schools district. The previous 20+ years I worked in broadcast, and commercial television as editor, photographer, producer, writer, and director. Since my high school days I have also been a news photographer lucky enough to have a front row seat history local and global.
The camera has been an integral a part of my life from my earliest days playing at Rancho Park, in the shadows of 20th Century Studios in Los Angeles. Visual storytelling is a part of my DNA.
Here we go!
Soon I will retire from teaching, however I am far from don. I want to keep by helping young talent develop their own projects through an innovative approach to education by helping them catch that needed break while honing their craft. through Derp Dog's own production. At 65 years old I should be ready to fade into the sunset but I still have lots of gas in the tank. I'm excited to build this new film community designed to generate a new era of independent film in my Midwest home. Stories created by people who are looking to affect their world in a positive and inclusive way.
We currently have four projects under development with a fifth short film soon to be announced. There will be many needs in crew and support. If you're interested in helping with any of these films or are in need of support for your own film please complete the form on our home page.
Lights, camera action!
Ron Hanson, CEO Derp Dog Films.
